Durga Lamichhane, a 41-year-old light vehicle driver for the Bardghat Municipality, has become a prominent figure in Nawalparasi for his voluntary snake rescue efforts. Since beginning this work, he has safely relocated over five thousand snakes, including highly venomous species like cobras and kraits, without charging any fees. Lamichhane receives numerous daily requests for assistance from various regions, often providing remote guidance via photographs when he cannot attend in person. He emphasizes the importance of professional intervention over attempting to harm or handle snakes, a practice that protects both residents and the animals. Despite initial concerns from his family regarding the risks involved, they now fully support his dedication to this public service. His work spans diverse locations, ranging from private residences to high-security areas like Armed Police barracks, ensuring safety through expert handling and proper equipment.
