Environmental organization Greenpeace reports that an oil slick near the Russian resort city of Sochi has grown significantly, expanding from 8 to 25 square kilometers over three days. This development follows a drone attack on a Liberian-flagged tanker earlier this week. Although local authorities in Sochi and Sirius reopened public beaches on Thursday, asserting that water quality tests showed no contamination, satellite imagery contradicts these findings. The tanker, identified as the Aframax Rio, was reportedly carrying oil when it caught fire. While the vessel is currently being moved, environmentalists remain concerned about the potential ecological impact along the Black Sea coast. The ship, which is linked to Russia's shadow fleet, remains under scrutiny as officials assess the extent of the damage and the environmental risks posed by the ongoing spill.
