Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the government is actively addressing recent turmoil in the fund market, emphasizing three key priorities. The first is to ensure swift repayment of savings to investors affected by liquidations, with ordinary liquidations already underway and extraordinary ones awaiting parliamentary approval. The second priority involves prosecuting individuals who engaged in market manipulation for illicit gains, differentiating them from diligent workers and business owners. Erdoğan vowed that those who profited unfairly through market trickery would be held accountable. The third priority is to manage the situation without causing broader damage to capital markets, distinguishing between opportunists and genuine investors. Erdoğan cautioned against using the issue to undermine the Turkish economy or scare away investors, noting the problem affected only a small fraction of the total funds.
