This appeal follows recent enforcement efforts by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, which confiscated several prohibited devices, referred to as "sawyat," within the Al Reem Biosphere Reserve. Experts emphasized that these tools encourage overhunting and negatively impact the natural behaviors of migratory species. The debate coincides with the current hunting season, which commenced on September 1 and is set to conclude on February 15, 2027. Authorities have established specific guidelines under Ministerial Decision No. 7 of 2026, outlining permitted hunting practices and species. Supporters of the crackdown argue that consistent monitoring and strict adherence to environmental laws are essential for preserving the nation's biodiversity and protecting its natural resources during the critical migratory period.
