A police officer on patrol successfully rescued 31-year-old Abdus Samad after noticing him in distress while being transported on a motorcycle. The officer followed the vehicle to an unfinished building where the victim was being held. Five individuals were subsequently arrested for the abduction. The suspects had impersonated officers from the Detective Branch and the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence to kidnap Samad. They reportedly contacted his family to demand a ransom of 500,000 taka, threatening to implicate him in a narcotics-related criminal case if the payment was not made. The rescue operation occurred on Friday afternoon in the Digharkanda bypass region near Notre Dame College.
