Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs is encouraging citizens to document traffic infractions committed by electric scooter and bicycle riders. Deputy Minister Igor Lepyekha stated that the public should photograph these violations and submit the evidence to law enforcement authorities. The initiative aims to address ongoing safety concerns involving delivery personnel and teenagers who frequently operate these vehicles on sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. Officials clarified that electric bicycles are legally categorized as mopeds, meaning their use on pedestrian pathways is strictly forbidden. While the Ministry acknowledges it lacks the manpower to station officers on every street, it emphasizes that collaborative efforts with the public are necessary to improve road safety and enforce existing traffic regulations. Violators identified through these reports will face appropriate legal consequences.
