The Prosecutor General’s Office in Kazakhstan has alerted the public to a rising trend in financial fraud. Criminals are contacting citizens while posing as representatives of the National Bank, claiming that personal data has been compromised and that funds are at risk of theft. Victims are then manipulated into withdrawing their savings and transferring the money to external accounts under the guise of security measures. Authorities reported that 39 such incidents have occurred within the last six weeks. A recent investigation in the Ulytau region highlights this pattern, where a resident lost money after following instructions from callers claiming to protect his assets. Officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid sharing financial information or transferring funds based on unsolicited phone calls.
