The Madras High Court has granted permission for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to conduct its annual route marches across Tamil Nadu on October 25 and November 1. The court strongly criticized the state police for repeatedly denying permission, noting that the reasons provided were the same ones previously found to be insufficient. Justice V Lakshminarayanan instructed the police to collaborate with RSS organizers to finalize the routes and timings by Monday. The court emphasized that public roads are secular spaces accessible to all and that police should assist applicants with procedural requirements rather than seeking grounds for rejection. This decision follows a history of legal disputes over the RSS's right to hold such processions.
