According to the latest Program for International Student Assessment results, South Korean teenagers continue to demonstrate strong academic performance on a global scale. In the 2025 evaluation, 15-year-old students achieved average scores of 526 in science, 522 in mathematics, and 501 in reading. While the nation remains a top performer in scientific and mathematical fields and showed competence in digital problem-solving tasks, the data indicates a notable downward trend in reading proficiency compared to assessments conducted over the previous ten years. These findings, published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, highlight both the sustained excellence of the Korean education system in technical subjects and the emerging challenges regarding literacy skills among the youth population.
