Sri Lankan technology entrepreneur Sanjiva Weerawarna has publicly questioned a significant consultancy contract valued at Rs. 173.86 million. This agreement, approved by the Cabinet, pertains to a tourism development initiative supported by the Asian Development Bank. Weerawarna expressed his concerns regarding certain aspects of the arrangement on social media, urging senior government officials to investigate the matter. The contract is part of the Sustainable Tourism Sector Development Programme, which is being implemented with a US$30 million loan from the ADB. The Cabinet decision recommended awarding the consultancy to Resources Development Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, in collaboration with Novel Interdisciplinary Consulting Enterprise (Pvt) Ltd, both local Sri Lankan firms. The program aims to enhance tourism infrastructure and facilities at specific sites.
