Nepal recently experienced a severe flood in its Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river system. Occurring on August 26, this disaster caused widespread destruction. Settlements, roads, bridges, and vital hydropower projects were damaged or swept away. Many people perished, and thousands became displaced, facing serious risks. This incident underscores that climate change is an immediate reality for Nepal. It directly impacts the country's economy, environment, and development. A core issue of climate justice emerges. Nepal contributes only 0.027 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Yet, it bears a heavy climate burden. The Prime Minister's visit to the 81st United Nations General Assembly Session is highly significant. This provides a crucial opportunity to advocate for global fairness.
