Rural and Regional Development Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has refuted claims that his department exceeded its authorized budget. Responding to reports from the Treasury regarding rural road project expenditures, Zahid asserted that the ministry strictly operates within the financial limits established by the annual budget. While acknowledging that the ministry occasionally covers costs that lack specific budget line items, he maintained that the department does not engage in unauthorized spending. Speaking at a joint event in Cyberjaya, Zahid emphasized that the ministry prioritizes operational efficiency over mere spending volume. He stated that the government entity remains committed to adhering to established fiscal principles, ensuring that all financial activities align with approved allocations rather than surpassing them.
