A private musical gathering featuring Baul music in Sunamganj's Dirai upazila was called off by the organizer to prevent potential conflict. The event, planned for a birthday celebration in Hatia village, faced opposition from local individuals who submitted a formal complaint to the police. The objectors claimed that the performance, which was set to include two female Baul singers, could lead to indecency under the guise of musical entertainment. To avoid any escalation or unpleasant incidents, the host, a United Kingdom-based expatriate, decided to cancel the program. This incident occurred in the home region of the renowned Baul artist Shah Abdul Karim, highlighting ongoing tensions regarding cultural performances in the area.
