Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Satya Niketan building collapse site, where rescue efforts have cleared most of the wreckage. The incident resulted in six fatalities and six injuries among the twelve individuals recovered. Preliminary findings suggest that ongoing renovations combined with basement water accumulation led to the structural failure. In response, the government has ordered the evacuation of nearby hazardous buildings and planned the demolition of the remaining unstable structure. A new policy is being developed to mandate structural safety audits for commercial properties, including hostels and schools. Officials have warned that strict legal consequences await those found negligent, while a city-wide inspection of similar aging structures will be conducted to prevent future tragedies.
