Melih Gökçek, the former mayor of Ankara, along with his son and daughter-in-law, have been summoned by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities are examining claims regarding the transfer of undisclosed funds to various international business entities. The probe, initiated on August 29, follows investigative reporting by journalist Murat Ağırel concerning significant property acquisitions in Germany and Luxembourg allegedly tied to the Gökçek family. Gökçek, a prominent figure in the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) who led the capital for over two decades, provided testimony to prosecutors last Friday. While he chose not to reveal the specifics of his statement, he maintained his innocence and dismissed the allegations against him. The investigation into the family's financial activities remains active.
