South Korean expressways experienced significant traffic delays on Friday morning as citizens began their journeys for the Chuseok holiday. According to data provided by the Korea Expressway Corporation at 9 a.m., motorists traveling from Seoul to Busan faced an estimated transit time of eight hours and 40 minutes. Other major routes also saw substantial slowdowns, with travel to Ulsan expected to take eight hours and 20 minutes, while trips to Daegu and Mokpo were projected at seven hours and 40 minutes and six hours and 40 minutes, respectively. Commuters heading to Gwangju faced a six-hour and 10-minute drive, while those traveling to Gangneung and Daejeon were estimated to spend four hours and 10 minutes and three hours and 50 minutes on the road, respectively, as the holiday exodus intensified.
