Playwright Deepika Arwind has released her first novel for adults, titled Good Arguments. The narrative centers on Delphi Rodriguez, a young woman in her twenties navigating the complexities of life and career in early 2010s India. After graduating from university, Delphi attempts to establish herself within the competitive theatre industry in Bangalore. She participates in a rigorous training program led by a prominent director named Laila and briefly works at the Daily Deccan newspaper. The story examines the challenges Delphi faces as she seeks to define her personal identity while contending with the social barriers imposed by her gender and class background. Arwind’s work provides a detailed look at the experiences of women pursuing creative paths in modern urban environments.
