Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced plans to visit Lyon, France, to personally follow up on the Philippine government's request for an Interpol red notice against former party-list representative Zaldy Co. Co is currently abroad and faces a recently issued arrest warrant related to a significant plunder case. Alongside this effort, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla is scheduled to travel to Paris to manage diplomatic channels aimed at facilitating Co's return to the Philippines. These coordinated actions follow the Sandiganbayan Third Division's issuance of arrest warrants on Monday for Co, former speaker Martin Romualdez, and two additional individuals. The legal proceedings concern allegations of P7.44 billion in kickbacks linked to a major plunder investigation. The government is intensifying its pursuit to ensure the accused individuals are brought back to face the charges filed against them in local courts.
