A 20-year-old Kazakh citizen, Kuanysh Arap, has been reported missing for more than a year following his departure to Russia in April 2025. Arap traveled to seek employment after encountering a job advertisement on the social media platform TikTok. Although he initially planned to make the trip with acquaintances from Semey, those individuals abandoned the journey in Shymkent, leaving him to continue alone. His sister, Nazerke Arapova, reported that communication with her brother ceased several months after his arrival in Russia. The family has since been unable to ascertain his current location or status. Representatives from the family have reached out to the Kazakhstani Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seek assistance in locating the missing man. The case highlights the potential risks associated with pursuing employment opportunities found through unverified social media advertisements.
