A recent environmental assessment by Kazhydromet examined air quality across 69 different locations in Kazakhstan during August. The findings categorized three areas—Astana, Karaganda, and the village of Shubarshi—as having extremely high pollution levels. Additionally, six urban centers, including Almaty and Aktobe, were classified under the high pollution category. The report further noted that 26 settlements experienced elevated levels of contaminants, while 34 locations maintained low pollution readings. Among the cities with elevated levels were Shymkent, Atyrau, and Pavlodar. This comprehensive monitoring effort provides a detailed overview of the varying environmental conditions across the nation's urban and rural settlements.
