Nickolay Mladenov, a high-ranking official involved in Gaza peace efforts, has cautioned that the two-state solution faces an existential threat if the current comprehensive peace strategy is not enacted. Speaking at the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi, Mladenov acknowledged minor improvements in the living standards of Gaza's two million residents but emphasized that significant obstacles persist. He specifically highlighted Israeli-imposed restrictions on humanitarian aid and essential building supplies as major impediments to progress. Mladenov argued that the current trajectory in Gaza, combined with ongoing instability in the West Bank, renders a future two-state arrangement increasingly unattainable. He urged for the immediate implementation of the proposed road map to prevent further deterioration of the regional political landscape.
