Dr. Majed al-Ansari, advisor to Qatar’s Prime Minister and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the Hili Forum 2026 in Abu Dhabi regarding regional stability. He highlighted that potential disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz represent a significant threat that extends beyond economic concerns to impact international security. Al-Ansari warned that utilizing vital waterways as leverage for political pressure undermines deterrence, noting that the ease of interrupting maritime traffic poses a persistent risk. During his panel discussion, he stressed that the consequences of ongoing regional crises are not limited to local borders but negatively affect global energy markets, commercial shipping, and international supply chains. Consequently, he advocated for a collective approach to Gulf security to mitigate these widespread vulnerabilities and ensure the continuity of essential global trade routes.
