Authorities in Thailand have launched an official inquiry into two villa development projects located on Koh Phangan in Surat Thani province. The investigation follows public reports regarding disruptive rock drilling and hillside clearing activities at these locations. Officials from the Royal Forest Department discovered six villas currently under construction at one site, while another property featured four finished structures. Both areas displayed clear evidence of significant rock excavation. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin mandated the probe to determine if these construction projects violated existing environmental or land-use regulations. Inspectors are currently reviewing the legality of the operations, which include a four-rai site where a swimming pool was being excavated. No definitive legal breaches have been confirmed at this stage as the assessment of the land and construction permits continues.
