The Supreme Court of Pakistan has affirmed a Sindh High Court ruling that mandates the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) to extend financial support to two young Hindu girls. A three-member judicial panel, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, established new procedural guidelines for how courts should handle requests for welfare assistance. While the judiciary may highlight deserving cases to the PBM, the court clarified that the specific details regarding the nature, amount, and duration of such aid must remain under the purview of the PBM. These decisions are to be governed by the organization's existing statutory framework, internal policies, and available budgetary resources. Moving forward, the judiciary is instructed to refer individuals in need to the PBM for evaluation rather than mandating specific financial outcomes directly.
