During the Security and History Dialogue 2026 conference held in Riyadh, Jameel Altheyabi, the Editor-in-Chief of Okaz and Supervisor General of Saudi Gazette, emphasized that media professionals in the Kingdom should place a higher priority on factual precision and objectivity than on being the first to release news. He noted that this is especially critical when covering security matters. Altheyabi highlighted that the rise of digital and social media platforms has heightened the duty of journalists to authenticate information and combat the spread of misinformation. Furthermore, he reflected on the evolution of Saudi journalism, noting its long-standing role in documenting national development and fostering public awareness. He concluded that the integrity of the profession relies on sourcing information from reliable channels to effectively communicate the country's ongoing national transformation.
