The Allahabad High Court has rejected a bail application from Islamic cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza regarding his alleged role in inciting violence during a September 2025 protest in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The demonstration, which took place without official authorization, was organized to protest against the state government's treatment of the Muslim community and the registration of cases against them. While the cleric claimed he had called off the event after authorities denied permission, the court noted that protesters still marched to the designated location. The bench emphasized that the use of inflammatory slogans, specifically those calling for beheading, serves to incite public disorder. Furthermore, the court remarked that the cleric’s actions appeared motivated by personal political and religious objectives rather than public interest.
