Experts argue that these local contests, starting with the union parishads, must be conducted on a non-partisan basis to ensure accountability and effective representation. By prioritizing these local elections, the government aims to fulfill constitutional mandates and strengthen the democratic foundation of the country, ensuring that representatives at every tier of administration are directly accountable to the people they serve.
