Assam authorities took into custody Ashutosh Ranka, the convenor of the Cockroach Janta Party, alongside approximately 30 party volunteers on Sunday. The detentions occurred in Dispur as the group attempted to gather for a meeting held on private land. Ranka utilized social media to document the situation, highlighting that law enforcement had blocked access to the venue and deployed tear gas. In his public statements, Ranka questioned the administration's motives for obstructing the event and challenged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the heavy police presence. The authorities prevented participants from reaching the designated location, effectively halting the planned political assembly.
