Bangladesh has seen a notable improvement in its foreign currency reserves, which currently total approximately 36.39 billion dollars. This amount is sufficient to finance four months of imports, surpassing the standard three-month benchmark for economic stability. Despite a recent decline from 37.5 billion dollars due to a 1.39 billion dollar payment for international obligations, the reserves have grown by nearly 3 billion dollars within the last half-year. In compliance with International Monetary Fund requirements, the central bank now discloses both gross figures and the specific BPM6 metric. Under the latter calculation, the nation's actual reserves are reported at over 31 billion dollars. This data reflects the ongoing efforts by the Bangladesh Bank to maintain sufficient liquidity to manage import costs effectively.
