Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formally requested the Japanese government to play an active role in facilitating the secure and honorable return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar. During a meeting with Yohei Sasakawa, the chairman of the Nippon Foundation, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of international support to resolve the ongoing humanitarian crisis. In response, Sasakawa acknowledged that while the Myanmar authorities have expressed a genuine commitment to addressing the situation, the intricate and volatile conditions currently prevailing in Rakhine State could potentially hinder or postpone the repatriation process. Both parties discussed the challenges involved in ensuring a sustainable solution for the displaced population residing in Bangladesh.
