The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone has introduced a new financing initiative that grants credit to artificial intelligence firms based on their token consumption. Six major domestic banks have committed nearly 2 billion yuan to support companies that possess significant technological expertise but lack the traditional physical assets or profitability required for standard loans. This model, which evaluates business potential alongside computing power usage, aims to bridge the funding gap for startups in the AI sector. While the initiative marks a shift in how financial institutions assess tech-driven enterprises, experts caution that widespread adoption requires standardized methods to verify data accuracy and prevent the overestimation of computing power consumption. Similar pilot programs have also emerged in other regions, such as Guangzhou, reflecting a national effort to integrate AI metrics into the broader economic framework.
