Residents from Betrawati in Nepal's Nuwakot district, affected by recent floods, have established temporary shelters in the Swaradanda forest, situated about one kilometer uphill from their community. Currently, nineteen tents are in use, providing accommodation for approximately 80 individuals, with more families expected to join them. Local reports indicate that the government supplied twelve of these shelters, and the rest were contributed by various benefactors. Nevertheless, community representatives highlight that the present number of tents will not meet the demand as more displaced families return after completing funeral ceremonies. The affected individuals are in urgent need of basic provisions, including bedding, sleeping mats, kitchenware, fresh produce, and clothing. Additionally, there is a pressing requirement for essential medicines for those managing chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
