United States President Donald Trump has downplayed the severity of the recent military conflict with Iran, describing it as relatively minor. In his remarks, Trump contrasted the loss of 18 American service members in the confrontation with the significantly higher casualties suffered during long-term historical conflicts, specifically the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan. By drawing these comparisons to military engagements that spanned decades, the president sought to contextualize and minimize the scale of the current hostilities.
