Sberbank has announced the nomination of Dmitry Grigorenko, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Government Staff, as deputy chairman of its board of directors. This move follows President Vladimir Putin’s decision to relieve Grigorenko of his government responsibilities, with Irina Okladnikova appointed as his successor. At the state-owned lender, Grigorenko is expected to manage strategic government relations and lead the implementation of digital services and artificial intelligence. Sberbank CEO Herman Gref noted that this appointment aims to enhance the bank's cooperation with state authorities. A formal vote by the supervisory board is expected on November 10. Analysts suggest that Grigorenko's exit from the cabinet may impact the influence of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, while other economic officials see their roles expanded amidst current fiscal pressures and rising state expenditures.
