The 38th International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council recently gathered in Shanghai to discuss strategies for the city's future economic development. Industry experts emphasized the importance of the service sector, which currently contributes nearly 80% of Shanghai's GDP. Key recommendations included leveraging AI within professional services like finance and law rather than focusing solely on model size, and attracting international scientific talent. Nike CEO Elliott Hill suggested maximizing the economic potential of major sporting events to foster community engagement. Additionally, consultants proposed enhancing tourism by highlighting the city's unique cultural heritage and architectural history. Mayor Zhu Zhongming acknowledged these insights, stating that the municipal government intends to incorporate these suggestions into a comprehensive strategy to further upgrade and expand the city's service-oriented economy.
