Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po has stated that Hong Kong maintains a positive outlook regarding its economic performance for the current year, contrasting with the more cautious global projections issued by the International Monetary Fund. Following his participation in the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Bangkok, Chan highlighted the city's strategic advantages. He emphasized that Hong Kong is well-positioned to leverage international capital movements and the expanding artificial intelligence sector to drive growth. Despite prevailing concerns about a global economic slowdown discussed by international leaders, the finance chief remains confident in the city's ability to navigate these challenges through its unique economic role.
