Hong Kong's export sector maintained significant momentum in August, reaching a total value of HK$667.9 billion. This represents a 53 percent increase compared to the previous year, marking the second-highest monthly figure on record following the peak observed in July. According to data provided by the Census and Statistics Department, this growth is largely attributed to robust international demand for technology components related to artificial intelligence. The positive trend follows a strong performance in July, during which exports grew by 50.7 percent. Concurrently, the city's import figures also experienced a substantial rise of 60 percent during the same period, reflecting broader shifts in trade activity.
