The Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS), the primary representative organization for the Idu Mishmi people in Arunachal Pradesh's Dibang Valley, has officially blacklisted four researchers. This decision follows the group's implementation of a research ethics code established earlier in 2024. According to the IMCLS, the individuals involved engaged in discriminatory behavior and conducted fieldwork in protected community territories without securing the necessary authorization from the Research and Ethics Review Board. The society emphasized that these actions occurred while formal consent processes were still ongoing. The researchers named in the incident include Rajkamal Goswami from the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment and Aavika Dhanda, who previously held an affiliation with the same institution. This move highlights the community's efforts to enforce strict regulatory oversight regarding academic activities conducted on their ancestral lands.
