The Indian government has reportedly granted a three-month extension on a 320 million USD currency swap facility for the Maldives. This financial arrangement, originally established between the Reserve Bank of India and the Maldives Monetary Authority, was nearing its repayment deadline. Maldivian authorities have acknowledged the support, noting that the rollover provides necessary breathing room for the nation to manage its current debt obligations. While the Maldivian government has publicly expressed gratitude for this assistance, New Delhi has not yet released an official statement confirming the extension. The move follows a formal request from Male to defer the payment that was scheduled to be settled within the next ten days.
