The Indian government has introduced new amendments to the Legal Metrology Rules, requiring manufacturers of personal care items to clearly label their products based on their ingredients. Under these updated regulations, everyday toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, and soap must now feature specific symbols to inform consumers about their composition. A green symbol will signify that a product is vegetarian, whereas a red or brown mark will be used to identify items containing non-vegetarian ingredients. This policy change aims to provide greater transparency for shoppers, allowing them to easily distinguish between product types while browsing for household essentials. By standardizing these visual indicators across the toiletries sector, authorities intend to assist consumers in making informed purchasing decisions that align with their dietary or personal preferences.
