Following a three-month trial period, Kathmandu Metropolitan City intends to enhance its nocturnal public transit system by introducing 21 additional buses and six new operational routes. Data from the pilot phase indicated that nearly 67,000 passengers utilized the service, with peak demand occurring between 8 pm and 9 pm, primarily among commuters and laborers. Despite the popularity of the service, current operations face a daily financial deficit of Rs 1,690 per vehicle, as operating expenses exceed generated revenue. To address this and meet public demand, authorities are acting on recommendations to expand the fleet from seven to 28 buses. Proposed route extensions include connections such as Jagati to Thamel and a comprehensive Ring Road service, aiming to better serve those traveling late in the evening.
