Recent heavy rainfall has triggered multiple landslides in Nepal's Bajura district, severely impacting local infrastructure and daily routines. The vital Sanfe-Martadi highway has been impassable for two days due to debris accumulation at various points within Badimalika Municipality-9, such as Karagar Mod and Suwakandh. While authorities initially deployed heavy machinery to clear the route on Sunday, operations were temporarily suspended because of persistent downpours. Work resumed on Monday using equipment provided by the Department of Roads to assist stranded commuters. Furthermore, the district is facing widespread electricity disruptions after approximately 32 utility poles belonging to the national grid were destroyed by the shifting earth. Local police are monitoring the situation as repair efforts continue despite the challenging weather conditions.
