A luxury electric vehicle valued at 6 million baht rolled into a five-metre-deep irrigation canal in Samut Prakan on Saturday after the driver exited without securing it. CCTV footage shows the car moving driverless across two lanes of traffic, forcing other motorists to brake suddenly to avoid a collision. No injuries were reported during the incident. The vehicle, which had not been switched off or placed in park, required a multi-ton crane and a two-hour recovery operation to be removed from the water. The recovery process necessitated a temporary lane closure, causing significant traffic congestion in the area. The owner's family has since apologized for the disruption and advised other drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly secured before exiting. The car, imported less than two years ago, remained submerged for several hours before being retrieved by rescue teams.
