Prime Minister Balen Shah is scheduled to represent Nepal at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, marking his inaugural official visit abroad. His address, slated for September 24, will prioritize climate justice and the pursuit of financial compensation for environmental damages. Following recent natural disasters that have severely impacted the nation, the Prime Minister aims to highlight Nepal's vulnerability to global climate shifts. While diplomatic experts clarify that the UNGA is not a direct venue for financial disbursements, they emphasize its importance in generating international pressure and visibility. Nepal has already submitted a formal request for 20 million dollars from the Loss and Damage Fund to address specific flood-related destruction. Success in securing these funds will depend on the government's ability to present evidence-based arguments and demonstrate a robust framework for managing international aid. The delegation's preparation involves gathering factual data and expert insights to strengthen Nepal's position on the global stage.
