Following severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, Nepal has appealed to the international community for sophisticated rescue equipment and specialized materials. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday, September 7, that the government compiled a list of high-tech rescue tools. This request comes as local technical capabilities have proven inadequate for operations, particularly in reaching individuals trapped within hydropower tunnels and areas made inaccessible by thick mud and debris. To enhance search and rescue efforts and mitigate risks in affected zones, Nepal specifically seeks high-capacity drones and LiDAR technology. These tools are crucial for scanning challenging landscapes, landslide-affected sites, and tunnels, thereby accelerating recovery and ensuring safety.
