The New Development Bank, established by BRICS nations to support sustainable infrastructure, has authorized a 205 million dollar investment to improve water access in South Africa. This initiative targets six municipalities within the North West and Limpopo provinces, where water demand currently exceeds supply by over 40 percent. The funding is designated for the expansion of pipeline networks, the optimization of existing infrastructure, and the development of new water treatment facilities. These upgrades are expected to provide reliable, clean drinking water to approximately two million residents in the affected areas, addressing critical shortages that have historically impacted local communities.
