Authorities in Pakistan have sanctioned a electricity price increase of approximately Rs0.52 per unit, a move expected to impose a financial impact of Rs12.6 billion on the public. This quarterly adjustment will be implemented across all consumer segments, excluding prepaid users, those under the Incremental Consumption Package, and lifeline customers. The additional charges are scheduled to be collected consistently over a three-month period spanning September to November 2026. While power distribution companies had requested a larger adjustment of Rs33 billion to be spread across four months, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority determined that a lower recovery amount of Rs12 billion was appropriate. Consequently, the regulator maintained the original three-month collection timeline for the approved tariff hike.
