Philippine Airlines is set to restart direct flights between Manila and Saipan on October 25, a move anticipated to assist the large Filipino community residing in the Northern Mariana Islands. According to Marianas Visitors Authority board member Joe C. Guerrero, the resumption of service will facilitate travel for workers while simultaneously expanding tourism opportunities by leveraging the airline's broader international network. To support this initiative, the MVA board recently authorized a $400,000 promotional contract with the flag carrier. This agreement, confirmed by acting managing director Judith Torres, is designed to bolster marketing efforts throughout the 2026 winter and 2027 summer travel periods. Local officials expect that re-establishing this air link will provide significant economic advantages for the United States territory by improving connectivity and accessibility for international visitors.
