During a meeting with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) representatives in Baddegama, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasized the necessity of securing a two-thirds parliamentary majority in the upcoming general elections. He argued that such a mandate is essential for amending the Constitution to address national challenges and effectively execute President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s policy framework. The Prime Minister criticized the previous administration, claiming that internal friction between its leaders led to a halt in national development and infrastructure projects. He asserted that the SLPP has selected a capable group of candidates with both local and international expertise to ensure efficient governance. Rajapaksa concluded that a unified legislative team is vital to avoid the political paralysis seen in the past and to restore the country's growth trajectory.
