Travel costs for direct flights between Singapore and Ipoh have reached record levels for the upcoming 2027 Chinese New Year holiday. Recent data from the Scoot booking platform indicates that round-trip tickets for early February 2027 are priced starting at S$1,421, with one-way departures from Singapore beginning at S$734. This represents a significant increase over previous peak pricing, which historically topped out at approximately S$1,100. Industry analysts suggest that the price surge is driven by limited travel alternatives, as Scoot currently maintains a monopoly on this direct route following the suspension of services by other carriers. Furthermore, experts point to rising global oil costs linked to geopolitical instability in the Middle East as a contributing factor to the escalation in airport fees and overall ticket expenses.
